Resplendent at the top of the Great Notley Bowl in the Great Notley Country Park is the 'Bird of Freedom' by Jonathan Clarke. The Bird of Freedom, which stands at 2.5m high with a 15ft wingspan is a kestrel which can be seen from afar as its sits atop the highest point between Great Notley and the coast. The sculpture is made from three-quarters tonne of steel and aluminium. The plinth features scenes from nature designed by local schoolchildren. It was originally installed in 2000 and has become a much loved symbol of Braintree.
